Austria has some stunning lakes in the low alpine regions and so when I came across this bit of decking under the sun, and surrounded by crystal clear water, it was hard not to just chill here with a book.

One of my favourite moments of each day on the bike comes about now. Tent is pitched in a clearing in a wood. Sun has descended over the horizon in a flurry of orange and yellow streaks, like those of the many peaches I've been consuming. The moon has risen to take command of a night sky over the stars which it subdues in its brilliant luminance. They will follow him into battle for a few hours before bidding a hasty retreat with the arrival of his sole adversary come the morrow. Crickets beat out their evening call in full rythymic song. Like a lover chasing his darling he will not give up so easily while the night is young. Consistent and persistent he sings away to the whispering wind rustling the pines nearby. To this backdrop I lie in my tent with not a care in the world. No deadlines to meet, no assignments to hand in, no people's demands or expectations to satisfy, this my friends is peace. Mini-church shrines by the side of the road, iced bottles of water handed to me by a Greek couple, fresh raspberrys and using my socks as oven mitts are just some of the explanations to the slideshow below from Greece and Bulgaria. I must say when it comes to the life of the former US president I am in awe in his wide variety of interests and the huge responsibilities he took on, of course the largest one being the US president during the beginning of the 1900's. His wisdom and insight was quite exceptional and when I was learning a bit about him the other day I came across this quote which I think is one that should be an encouragement to all who fear failure. In reality there is no fear in failure, because youve made an effort to succeed, which remember, is more than most people! Like the student in the quiet, large lecture theatre in university who questions the lecturer. He cannot be sure that what he says is right in proving the lecturer wrong. However you can be sure that in being right or wrong, the point will be committed to memory far better than those around him who accepted it. I hope this quote will impact how you act as much as it has impacted me.
